I began writing professionally in 2013 and was published in 2014 by SirenBookstrand publishing. After a 4 year break for health reasons in 2021, in 2025 I finally got back to writing again and managed to complete a short manuscript, entitled Baxter’s Fall.

My writing style has changed slightly, with regards to how I write, and I find I’m able to write small sections, often, rather than writing lots in one sitting. This can be a bit frustrating, as I used to be able to sit for hours and write a book in a couple of weeks. Now I can’t seem to “flow” for more than an hour. The trick is to edit more frequently so I can keep the focus going, and stick to one manuscript at a time so I don’t lose the plot…literally!
Mental health issues, which have troubled me for a few years now, aren’t to be taken lightly, and I’m extremely lucky that I’ve been able to write again. For a while I couldn’t focus at all and had no ideas, my creativity at an all time low. I often get ideas in dreams, which sounds a bit weird, but hey-ho! That’s how I roll.
Now there’s no stopping me…I hope. So onwards and upwards. xx Jools Louise xx
